Come Appreciate and Celebrate the Trail

Hikers south of Blackhead on the Stiles Cove PathGather your family, friends and neighbours and make your way to the Town of Flatrock to open Stiles Cove Path with one of three grand hikes and a wonderful opening ceremony. It just so happens, there is more than one thing to celebrate. The East Coast Trail Association celebrates a trail development milestone: 15 km of new trail, but we also celebrate the fact that we have 250 km of the East Coast Trail fully constructed, and it is the Trail's fifteenth birthday.

Don't miss out. Show you appreciation for the Trail, the Association, trail development and trail maintenance by marking Saturday, October 17th on your calendars!

We invite all to come:

Maintenance volunteers cool off in Big River Falls on the Stiles Cove Path

or all of the above!

Linking two communities

Pouch Cove Boat Slipway The communities of Flatrock and Pouch Cove are now connected by a world class wilderness hiking trail - the East Coast Trail's Stiles Cove Path. Hikers and walkers have been enjoying this route for many years, but now visitors to this path can enjoy a trail that has been fully constructed to the ECT standard. No more boggy areas and hacking your way through thick brush. The Trail has been constructed in a way that will preserve and protect the landscape, so hikers and walkers can enjoy it without causing damage and erosion.

This newest section of trail is the best trail we have built to date. But don't take our word for it, come to the Town of Flatrock at 8:30 am on Saturday, October 17th to celebrate the Official Opening of this wonderful piece of trail.

Natural beauty marries true workmanship

Bridge over the Spout River You will stand in awe at this wonderful piece of coastline and the workmanship of our trail crew. The rugged coastline along this section of trail is a grand display of cliffs, rock formations and outcrops; coves, rivers and waterfalls are abundant. One such waterfall is located at Stiles Cove, the half-way point and namesake for the Path.

Come hike with us and see it for yourself. You won't be disappointed. There are three grand hikes to choose from that will start right after the official opening ceremony.

Thanks to

the organizations that supported the development of this path: ACOA, the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, Service Canada, the Canadian Armed Forces 56 Engineer Squadron, ExxonMobil, the Town of Logy Bay, Middle Cove, Outer Cove and other generous corporate and private donors.

Thanks to The Telegram and the Town of Flatrock for sponsoring the Official Grand Opening event.

And thanks to all the ECTA volunteers who helped make the event happen.
