Hikes & Maintenance Outings
Welcome to the ECTA hiking program. These wilderness hikes and maintenance outings are led by volunteers with the East Coast Trail Association. Be prepared to be impressed by magnificent scenery and solitude along our spectacular coast. The trail is not an urban trail but rather one intentionally left as unspoiled and natural as possible. You may have to climb rock outcrops or walk near cliff edges. As such, hiking the trail inherently has a greater risk than a stroll in an urban park. Risks to a reasonably fit, prepared and cautious hiker are minimal. Certainly we feel they are worthwhile, considering the physical benefits of an active lifestyle and the beauty of the surroundings.
Each trail has a rating in terms of the level of difficulty, so choose a hike or maintenance outing that suits your ability, especially when you are just startig out.
Voulnteers interested in helping out on our maintenance outings must contact the hike leader in advance, so enough tools can be organized for the outing.
