Welcome Spring and Celebrate Earth Day!
There will be an East Coast Trail Association organized clean up along the Sugarloaf Path below the Robin Hood Bay landfill on Saturday, April 24th (9am - 1pm).
Hopefully the weather will be cooperative by then. The City reserves the right to cancel last minute due to weather.
Those who have participated in the plastic bag clean-up before will recall that sturdy footwear (hiking boots) with ankle support is required, old clothes with long pants and sleeves are recommended, as is hat, sunblock, glasses (goggles if you have them), work gloves or garden gloves. Bring a water bottle. A rake is useful.
MUN Med School Wilderness Hiking Group will join us. We meet at the Robin Hood Bay landfill Administration building and at 9am we take a bus to the site.
The City is providing large plastic bags. I shall borrow goggles from our work crew (please bring your own if you have them). Corneal abrasion is the highest risk of injury for this job; the plastic bags are in the trees and bushes.
The ECTA requires that participants sign a waiver. Helpers must be age 16 or over (or 12 - 16 accompanied by a parent).
Please contact myself if you want to register for this Earth Day event. It will be the kick-off to our volunteer trail maintenance program for the 2010 season.
Say NO to plastic bags.
