Description: The East Coast Trail Association dedicated the 50-metre suspension bridge at La Manche to former residents of the fishing village in an afternoon ceremony on Sunday 26 October 2003. Mildred (Melvin) Bruff, who grew up in the village, unveiled a commemorative plaque on the north end of the bridge following remarks by Randy Murphy, (president of the East Coast Trail), Karl Tee , Brian Penney (representing the Government of Canada), and Keith Healey of the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador. Many thanks to Communications Canada for funding the ceremony and RJG for sponsoring the plaque. Thanks also to the 15 hikers who marked the occasion by hiking 11.5 km from Brigus South along the Flamber Head Path to be with us at 3:00 pm.

The East Coast Trail Association gratefully acknowledges the sponsorship support of the Government of Canada http://www.canada.gc.ca/ for making this event possible.
